Haberdashery was founded in East London in 2008 by Ben Rigby & Mac Cox who were brought together by a combined interest in light discovered through their work in the film industry.
Our lighting centrepieces are designed from concept through to final detailing by our in house team of engineers and product designers.
We commission the component parts of our designs from some of the most exclusive workshops & craftspeople worldwide. These components are assembled into lighting centrepieces solely in our London studios before being shipped to their new homes.
Our collection designs are inspired by globally recognisable themes such as the dappling of a forest canopy or the awakening of flowers in spring. The stylised components & resonant lighting effects encourage viewers to use their own memories to complete the scenes.
Each new range is designed over a 24 month period allowing for extensive exploration of the subject as well as more technical development of fixing, lighting, and installation systems. The result is a multi layered design that can be customised in composition to suit a multitude of spaces.

For our fully bespoke designs we explore narratives with distinct links to the client and/or the property. This process allows us to create truly personal site specific lighting centrepieces in collaboration with our clients.
The development of a bespoke piece takes upwards of 9 months during which time the concept and components are conceived, detailed and produced from scratch to meet with the precise requirements of the project.
